EMS Wire Leads

****Note: Due to an FDA ruling, the standard for wire leads to all types of machines has changed. This regulation has required all manufacturers to change their leads so as to meet these standards. The older style leads are no longer available. Adapters to retro-fit your machine to the new type of lead are available. All manufacturers are now producing their new machines in accordance to the new regulation and will accept the new type of lead. If you have an older machine you will need to retro-fit this machine to meet the FDA standard. If you have any questions about the changes and retro kits don't hesitate to call.

The FDA mandate in a nutshell is as follows:
The new performance standard requires that the originating end of the leadwire (the end attached to the machine) be shielded in such a way that:

It cannot be plugged into a powered outlet or power cord and;
If the leadwire is accidentally pulled from the device and makes contact with an electrified surface of 100 square millimeters, it must not be capable of conducting current to the patient and;
A test finger cannot come into contact with a single pole conductor.
